REPRESENTACIONES DE LA RELACIÓN FAMILIA-ESCUELA DE LOS FORMADORES DEL PROFESORADO PARA LA ENSEÑANZA BÁSICA*

Son numerosas las investigaciones que abordan la relación familia-escuela, pero pocas
consideran que las formas que el profesorado adopta para relacionarse con las familias
se incuban en su formación inicial. A partir de un estudio cualitativo, este artículo
describe las representaciones de 14 docentes de las carreras de Formación en enseñanza

básica, de cuatro universidades chilenas, respecto de la familia, la relación familia-
escuela y su abordaje en la formación inicial docente. Los resultados muestran una

favorable disposición para la incorporación de la temática de la relación familia-escuela
en los planes de formación inicial del profesorado, mediada por una representación
de la supremacía del campo escolar como agente que modela el itinerario formativo de
la infancia y define la estructura del puente que vincula familias y escuelas.
Abstract:
Numerous studies have addressed the family-school relationship, but few have
considered that teachers' ways of relating to families incubate during their early
training. Based on a qualitative study, this article describes the representations of
fourteen teacher educators in undergraduate programs of elementary education.
The teachers work in four Chilean universities and were studied with respect to
the family, the family-school relationship, and their approach in early teacher
education. The results show willingness to incorporate the topic of family-school
relationships in the initial plans of study, mediated by a representation of the

supremacy of schooling as an agent for modeling childhood education and defi-
ning the structure of the link between families and schools.
