INFLUENCIA DE LAS CREENCIAS RELIGIOSAS EN LOS DOCENTES DE CIENCIA SOBRE LA TEORÍA DE LA EVOLUCIÓN BIOLÓGICA Y SU DIDÁCTICA

Esta investigación, un estudio de caso, tuvo como objetivos analizar las creencias

religiosas como elemento relevante en las posturas que asumen los docentes con res-
pecto a la teoría de la evolución biológica y su didáctica, así como formular algunas

implicaciones educativas y para la formación docente. La investigación se realizó en
Puerto Rico con la participación de cuatro maestros en servicio (niveles 7°-9° y 10°

y dos en preservicio (niveles 4°
-6°
y 7°
-9°
),2 con quienes se llevó a cabo una
entrevista en profundidad. El enfoque de teoría emergente facilitó el desarrollo del
modelo Creencias Religiosas-Evolución Biológica (CREB), explicación teórica que
destaca la relevancia de las creencias religiosas al describir cómo los participantes
construyen y sustentan, de forma sincrética, su versión de la evolución biológica.
Abstract:
This research, a case study, had the objective of analyzing religious beliefs as a relevant
element in the postures that teachers assume with regard to the theory of biological
evolution and the teaching of that theory. It also had the objective of formulating
the implications on education and teacher education. The research was carried out

in Puerto Rico by completing in-depth interviews with four teachers in service (seventh-
ninth and tenth-eleventh grades) and with two pre-service teachers (fourth-sixth and

seventh-ninth grades). The focus on emerging theory facilitated the development of
the model of Religious Beliefs-Biological Evolution (CREB), a theoretical explanation
that emphasizes the relevance of religious beliefs by describing how participants construct
and sustain, in syncretic form, their version of biological evolution.
